Beyond the basics: elevating your classroom with Canva for Education

Go beyond the basics when it comes to creating in Canva. In this hands-on workshop, participants will dive deeper into the Canva template library, design editor, and Canva apps to empower you and your students to create in Canva. This is an intermediate/advanced session so please be sure you are able to: 

  • Login to a Canva for Education account
  • Find and sort all of your previous Canva projects
  • Add new folders in the projects tab
  • Import resources from other sources to Canva (Google slides, Powerpoint, PDF)
  • Search and use the filters to find Canva templates to get started
  • Rename your design, add design elements, and edit text

Assistive Technology: Meeting the Needs of All Learners

The What, the Why, The How!

Are you looking for ways to better serve all your students, including those with exceptional learning needs? 

  • This session provides educators with the tools needed to actively include learners with a variety of needs and abilities in classroom activities. We will provide an overview of federal requirements around the use of assistive technology to support students with learning differences. A variety of online tools and resources will be introduced. Participants will be able to engage with the online resources and identify opportunities for application within their focus area. Teachers will leave with multiple online tools and resources to create inclusive learner experiences.

Presenters:

  • Robbie Hampton Ed.D. is an associate professor and lead faculty for special education programs at Lipscomb University, where she teaches several different courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition, she holds graduate certificates in both Technology Integration and Assistive Technology. 
  • Casey Heard Ed.D. has been an Assistant Professor of Education for two years at Lipscomb University in the Instructional Practice Program. She has 12 years of K-12 experience, focusing mainly on teaching in the middle grades and serving as a Library Media Specialist. She is a Google Certified Educator and has received certification in Social Emotional Learning through Common Sense Media.
